Method 1: Drag & Drop — USB Wired Transfer

To get it done, you have to use the Micro USB cable that came with your Kindle Fire HD. It’s easy to purchase or rent content from Amazon, which you can choose to download directly to your Kindle Fire HD or stream from the Amazon Cloud.

The Micro USB cable has a USB connector on one end that you can plug into your PC or Mac, and a Micro USB connector on the other that fits into the Micro USB port on your Kindle Fire HD (which is located on the right side when holding Kindle Fire HD in portrait orientation).

1. Attach the Micro USB end to your Kindle Fire HD and the USB end to your computer.

Using this process, you can transfer apps, photos, docs, music, e-books, and videos from your computer to your Kindle Fire HD. Then, just tap the relevant library (such as Books for e-books and Music for songs) to read or play the content on your Kindle Fire HD.

Note: Your content will appear within the corresponding content library on your device:

  • Books will appear in the Books library.
  • Personal documents will appear in the Docs library.
  • Music will appear in the Music library.
  • Pictures will appear in the Gallery app.
  • Videos will appear in the Gallery app. (Videos transferred via USB will only be available in the Gallery app. Only videos from the Amazon Video store are shown in the Video library.)

Method 2: Downloading Content from the Cloud – Wireless cloud service

You can also upload content to your Amazon Cloud Drive on your computer, and that content will then be available on your Kindle Fire HD.

Confirm that your Kindle Fire HD is connected to Wi-Fi.

1. Tap the Cloud tab within the Games, Apps, Books, Music, Videos, Newsstand, Audiobooks, Photos, or Docs libraries.
2. Tap an item in the Cloud to download it to your Device tab.

Method 3: DoubleTwist—USB Wired Transfer

You can manage and sync your iTunes music, photos and videos with this tool. It will not only syncs your media, but also your playlists and track ratings.

1. Download DoubleTwist from Google Play on your Kindle Fire HD.

2. Use your browser on your PC or Mac, and use the link to download DoubleTwist.

3. Follow the instructions on the app on your device and the computer to set up synchronization between DoubleTwist on your computer and Amazon Tablet.

Synchronizing Kindle Fire HD unrecognized File Types videos/movies

You can purchase and wirelessly download Kindle books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs from the Kindle Store as well as download and read other types of non-DRM text-based content on your Kindle device. Here’s a list of these folders and the file types recognized by Kindle devices:

  • Documents: Kindle (.AZW, .AZW1). Text (.TXT), Unprotected Mobipocket (.MOBI, .PRC)
  • Audible: Audible (.AA, .AAX)
  • Music: MP3 (.MP3)
  • Movie: MP4, 3GP, VP8(.webm)

For the video or audio file that is not in the Kindle Fire HD supported format list, when syncing, the Amazon Tablet will pop up an error message saying unsupported file or plays video in slow motion. Don’t worry, to solve the problem, the best way is resorting to a video converter for Kindle to convert video to the format that Fire HD recognizes beforehand.

Here Kindle Fire HD Video Converter will be your best aid for video to Kindle conversion.
