What is TS video format?
Transport Stream (also known as MPEG-TS, MTS, or TS) is a format for transmitting video, audio, and PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) data. In contrast with program streams, TS is designed for more reliable media such as DVDs. Transport stream allows the multiplexing of digital audio and video to maintain a synchronization output. It also offers error correction feature to keep the integrity of the transmission when there is signal malfunction.
To be frank, it’s often the case you fail to put TS/MTS clips to QuickTime for playback or import these TS/MTS videos to iMovie or Final Cut Pro for editing. This is because TS/MTS formats are only in format supported lists of camcorders but hardly found in other places. So you need to convert TS/MTS to MOV on Mac because MOV is recognized as a perfect format running on Mac OS, QuickTime, and other Apple devices.
iMedia Converter for Mac not only enables you to free convert TS, M2TS, MTS videos to OS X (El Capitan Included), but also makes it possible to play and further edit the converted files in iMovie. It offers versatile editing features to personalize your video, such as trimming the video segment, cropping the video size for your portable device and setting the output quality by changing resolution, frame rate, encoder, bit rate, audio sample rate, etc.
