If you are looking for a powerful professional non-linear editing tool that’s exerting in color correction, Davinci Resolve is absolutely your first choice. Professional editors who have years of training and experience can make the full potential of this program, but sometimes, you won’t get a fast and fluid post-production workflow if you’re not familiar which file formats are supported by Davinci Resolve or how to work with unsupported file formats. In the following article, I will share some issues about this two aspects.
DaVinci Resolve allows full unlimited editing and grading of anything in real time. Video codec: QuickTime, Prores, DNxHD, MXF, DPX, CIN, EXR Image format: TIFF, JPEG, MOV, TGA, BMP Camera raw format: Blackmagic CinemaDNG RAW, ARRI Alexa RAW and Amira. RED One, EPIC , Scarlet and Dragon R3D files including +5K, monochrome and HDRx images, Cineform , Cineform 3D, Phantom Raw, GoPro, Nikon, Canon C300, C500 and 1D, 5D, 7D, Sony F65/F55/F5 RAW, Sony XAVC variants
From above lists, we can see that Davinci Resolve handles more native camera files and video formats, however, there are still some common file formats that Davin Resolve can not handle with or have problem to handle with some file types such as AVI, MP4 , MOV, MTS , M2TS , FLV, VOB, H.265, etc. Fortunately, here comes a powerful video conversion tool called Pavtube Video Converter for Mac (support Mac OS X El Capitan )/ Windows , which can do you a great favor to convert virtually any incompatible file formats to Davinci Resolve acceptable editing codecs listed above.
