Designed to deliver stunning 4K and Full HD video. the Canon XC10 provides the innovative new features like the Canon XF-AVC codec for 4K and HD recording. Canon provides a piece of software called the Canon XF utility for importing XC10 XF-AVC files to Davinci Resolve. However, many XC10 users gave feedback that the utility is unavailable. So what’s the available workflow for working with Canon XC10 XF-AVC in Davinci Resolve?
The reason that you can’t successfully ingest the recorded XF-AVC footage from Canon XC10 to Davinci Resolve is simple, the XF-AVC is a new codec, which is not supported by Davinci Resolve. Although Canon provides Canon XF Utility of XF-AVC, this does not enable us to import or transcode the files for use in Davinci Resolve.
Therefore we’ll need use third-party software to transcode the footage from the XC10 to e Davinci Resolve supported format . I tried a few converters that didn’t work….Compressor of course didn’t work, Wondersoft Video Converter Ultimate my usual goto converter didn’t work…it converted audio but not video. The one that worked for me is Brorsoft MXF converter (compatible with my Yosemite). The program can easily import and convert Canon XC10 footage to the Davinci Resolve format.
