Best answer:

At first, you sholud know most DVDs are copyrighted and can’t be directly made into CD. (Standard video DVDs are a little more complicated than just a video file on a disc, which would be a data DVD.)

To import and publish the entire raw video, you’ll need to get the video off of the DVD using software like Handbrake, and then opening it using Movie Maker. However, if you find some protected DVDs still can’t be ripped, try Pavtube DVDAid which I have searched on the web to perform the DVD ripping process. It’s a professional and powerful high-quality video converter and editor.

With it, I can effortlessly transcode DVD files to MPEG-4 format for Movie Maker editing and publishing into CD. Besides that, after ripping, I can watch the ripped movies (that have been edited) on TV sets and computers. I’m in the early learning stages of using software, however, it is easy-to-use, and I have successfully finished the conversion task in a few clicks.

Guide: Transcoding DVD to MPEG-4 for Movie Maker making into CD

Step 1: Free download and start up the DVD to MPEG-4 Converter, and then insert your DVD disc to the DVD drive. Click “Load file(s)” button to load DVD movies to the program. The imported videos can be previewed on the right window.

You can also backup DVD on Xbox 360, NAS server,or portable devices like Galaxy S5

Tips:

1. You can adjust video and audio parameters, including the Bitrate of Video and Audio, the Codec of Video and Audio, Video Size, Sample Rate, Frame Rate, Audio Channels, etc., in the Profile Settings.

2. After the DVD movie is imported, you can preview it with the player at the top right panel of the program. Generally, you would not put the whole DVD movie into the Windows Movie Maker project for publishing. So you can drag the “Start to trim” and “Stop to trim” button to get the certain segment of the DVD movie.

Step 3: Hit “Convert” button to carry out the conversion process. Once the conversion is done, you can click “Open” button to get the output files.

Now you can begin to import it into your Windows Movie Maker.

Click on “File -> Import”. A window will appear. In the window, navigate to the video clip you extracted from the DVD movie just now. Then double click on the file. You’ll see the icon for the file in your Windows Movie Maker “Collections”.
